The Ghost Consort Prince

A tragic legend about the tribe at the eastern borderland, it’s a story about a real/fake consort prince in the Kong-Que Kingdom. A man pretended to be someone he wasn’t, and a marriage full of love and a sense of powerlessness. Yi-Shin’s two lead xiaosheng (young male characters) interpreted such a beautiful tragedy that includes heart-to-heart talks with oneself, full of twists and turns of life and philosophical thoughts while exhibiting the characteristics of Taiwanese opera – behind a story, there is always something between the lines.

Buying of an Official Post

Released in 2010, it’s a story discussing collusion between the government and the business sector and seeking personal gains. It addresses the problems with humor and clear mockery. The background of the story is a traditional Chinese story. The director, Liu Jian-guo, chose to present the story in modern drama to create a hybrid style of theater and Taiwanese opera culture.

The Song of Lotus

Adapted from the same-title story written by Zhang Man-jun and included in her published book “The Tattoos of Mandarin Duck.” Although the production is about being true to how you feel for love, its ending leads to the idea of Zhuangzi dreaming he was a butterfly, which is very Taoism. It is the first crossover of Taiwanese opera and literary work and is praised as “the new romantic aesthetics for Taiwanese opera.”
Officially released on January 14th, 2017.
